The Harrison Youth Basketball Association (HYBA) is one of the largest of its kind in Georgia and provides boys 1st-12th and girls 1st-5th grade with the opportunity to learn and play. We practice once a week and play 8 games for 1st-8th grade.

All 1st-8th graders will participate in evaluations the week of October 28, 2019

Practices will begin in early November with a game schedule released soon after. Teams will be assigned a specific practice weeknight and could be any day Monday through Friday.  Games will be played on Saturdays with some Sundays. Sunday games will start in the afternoon or evening. You may, on occasion, have two games in one weekend. The season ends in February before winter break with a single-elimination tournament.

We need coaches! This league consists of parent volunteer coaches. Without coaches, we cannot put teams together. Check the appropriate box during registration to indicate your coaching interest. Coaches have input in determining their assigned practice night (where possible).

As part of your participation in HYBA (1st-8th graders), compliments of the Atlanta Hawks you will receive the following:

-2 FREE tickets to an Atlanta Hawks game at State Farm Arena and discounted tickets for the rest of the family. Players will have the opportunity to get on the State Farm Arena floor for "in-game" experiences.

-Co-branded HYBA/Atlanta Hawks uniforms

Misc:

For 1st-8th grade, we are unable to accommodate "same team" requests. Players are evaluated and drafted on teams to ensure competitive balance.

For two seasons running, we have had enough girls in the 1st-2nd grade group to have a separate girls league. We are planning to do the same thing this season. If we do not achieve the same level of interest for girls registration, then all 1st-2nd graders will play together in a coed league as was done in the past.

9th-12th Grade

HYBA extends into high school grades as well.  Grades 9 - 12 will have fewer practices and more games . Games are played at area middle schools and at Harrison High School. Other local facilities such as LakePoint will be utilized.  Grades 9-12 are not affiliated with the Jr. Hawks program.

Practices will begin soon after registration closes. Typically the High School leagues do not have practices once games begin. The game schedule will be released soon after practices begin.

Games will be played on Saturdays and some Sundays. Sunday games will start in the afternoon or evening. There will be weekends in which players will play multiple games (typically double headers with a game off in between).  Our goal this season is to finish regular season near the January date of spring tryouts of other sports. Otherwise it will finish up early February with a single-elimination tournament.

We need coaches! This league consists of parent volunteer coaches. Without coaches, we cannot put teams together. Check the appropriate box during registration to indicate your coaching interest. Coaches have input on their teams as in previous years.
